The upcoming Ikea Sjömärke could be an attractive wireless charger for smartphones and other devices with inductive charging. It is an ideal solution for minimalists. It has been designed so that the charging pad is invisible when placed under a desk or table.
“With SJÖMÄRKE Wireless Charger your technology becomes invisible because you mount the charger hidden – eg under a table top or shelf. It works through all materials except metal” – reads the manufacturer’s website.
According to Ikea, Sjömärke is perfect for mounting on a desk or bedside table when you want chargers and cables to blend in with the décor and keep the room clean and tidy. The charger makes it easy to charge your phone without having to search for watch sockets and cables. It is enough to place the phone on a table top or shelf directly above the charger.
In the kit, apart from the charger itself, there is a cable of about 2 meters in length, double-sided tape for easy installation and stickers for determining where to place the phone on the table. The loader runs optimally through all materials 8-22mm thick except for metal.
Ikea confirms that the charger is for indirect charging, for example through a table top or shelf. The phone should not be placed in direct contact with the charger.
