US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he was confident that China would try to strike a deal with the Taliban after it took power in Afghanistan on August 15.
When US President Joe Biden was asked if he feared China was funding Islamist rebels, Biden told reporters that “China has a real problem with the Taliban. Like Pakistan, so does Russia, so does Iran. Everyone is trying to figure out what they are doing now.”
The United States and the Group of Seven agreed to coordinate their response to the Taliban and blocked their access to Afghan reserves, most of which are located in the United States. But experts say economic leverage will be lost if China and Russia provide money to the Taliban.
