The 75th edition of the Tour de Romandie has begun in Lausanne. In the short introduction, Ethan Hayter was the best.
The first class of competition during the Tour de Romandie was a single trial with a length of just over five kilometres, which had a flat profile. No representative of Poland stood at the start of the race.
Britain’s singles champion Ethan Hayter (INEOS Grenadiers) was one of the favorites to win the introduction. As expected, Hayter did not disappoint and was the first to break the six-minute limit and his time was exactly 5:52. When he took the lead, the Briton was ten seconds ahead of Felix Groschartner (Bora-Hansgrohe). After Hayter, Rohan Dennis (Jumbo-Visma) was the second man at under six minutes, but the Australian was four seconds worse. The last one on the tour was Geraint Thomas (INEOS Grenadiers). Last year’s race winner did well, but that wasn’t enough for his teammate. In the end, Thomas finished fourth. The Briton was just 0.19 seconds off the podium in front.
