Two of the Grand Slam champions, Simona Halep and Emma Radocano (WTA 23), appeared at the start of the tournament in Cluj-Napoca. The Romanian plays its first match on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Britons beat Bologna Herkog (WTA 124) 4:6, 7:5, 6:1. In the first set, this year’s US Open winner lost the lead 4:1. From a score of 5:5 in the second set, She won eight out of nine consecutive matches.
In the match that lasted two hours and 27 minutes, Raducanu gave her a pass twice, and used four of her 17 break points. This was only her second match since winning the US Open. In Indian Wells, the Belarusian woman, Alaksandra Sasnowicz, turns out to be better than her. Romanian Anna Bogdan will be the next British contender.

Marta Kostyuk (WTA 55) defeated Bernarda Pera (WTA 94) 6:3, 6:4. In the second set, the Ukrainian lost three matches of 4:1, but crushed her opponent’s resistance. She sent seven aces in 73 minutes and hit four breaks. In the match, Romonic Irina-Camelia Bejo (WTA 57) made 10 double faults and lost 6:7 (2), 6:0, 4:6 with Irina Barra (WTA 138).
Andrea Petkovic (WTA 75) in the third set with 1:3 went out to 4:3, but eventually lost 4:6, 6:2, 4:6 to Varvara player (WTA 81). Alison van Uytvanck (WTA 61) returned with a 4-4 lead in the first game and defeated Danka Kovinic (WTA 76) 6-4, 6-4. Rebecca Peterson (WTA 99) has given four matches to Janie Fett (WTA 207). The Swedish scored 23 of 30 points with her first pass.
