The Office of International Policy working in the President’s Chancellery announced Saturday that congratulatory messages have been sent from world leaders on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of the May 3 constitution.
BPM announced that the cables had already been sent, among other things, by US President Joe Biden, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and People’s Republic of China leader Xi Jinping.
What is the Office of International Politics?
The Office of International Politics in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland is the organizational and institutional strengthening of the part of the Presidential Administration responsible for tasks in the field of international politics. The most important objective of the office in the coming years is to strengthen Poland and its position in international relations by preserving the activity of the President and the Polish state as important and active actors in international politics. Krzysztof Szczierski is the head of the office.
Constitution Day May 3 It falls on Mondays. President Andrzej Duda and his wife Agata Kornhauser-Duda will participate in state celebrations in Warsaw. On that day, Poland will also visit the presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
The 230th anniversary of the May 3 constitution
This year, we celebrate the 230th anniversary of the May 3 constitution. The document adopted in 1791 was the first constitution in modern Europe, and the second in the world after the American Constitution.
The anniversary of the adoption of the constitution on May 3 is a public holiday that was established in 1919. During the People’s Republic of Poland, observance of this day was forbidden. In 1990, May 3 became a national holiday again. This day is legally free to operate.
