A nurse from the Oberlinhaus Diaconal facility in Potsdam had to attack five prisoners, aged between 31 and 56, with a knife. Four of them were killed and one person – a 43-year-old woman – was seriously injured.
The nurse initially tried to strangle two patients. It was too tiring for her, so she told the other nurses she was on a rest and instead pulled an 11cm knife from her purse and cut the throats of five patients.
The prosecutor, citing Der Spiegel, said she was aware that the victims were severely disabled and unable to defend themselves or seek help.
The nurse killed the inmates
The 52-year-old underwent a comprehensive examination. On the opinion of a psychiatrist, it is assumed that the woman was not fully sane at the time of the crime.
The accused has been in the forensic department of a psychiatric hospital since the moment of her arrest. According to BZ, it is not known whether he will testify at his trial.
It depends on what she looks like on a particular day, said the woman’s attorney, Henry Tim.
The crime occurred at the end of April of this year. In the house Sonelda-von-Saldern-Haus in Potsdam, where the mentally handicapped reside, a nurse attacks the inmates. The victims were placed in separate rooms, and some remained in the center for most of their lives.
