Pink full moon. Where did the name come from?
The name of the full moon of April does not refer to the color of the moon’s disk, because it does not change color. The name comes from the color of the phlox flowers that begin their flowering period in North America this month. The original origin of the names given to each full moon dates back to the Native Americans.
Other names for the April full moon are Sprouting Grass Full, Egg Full, and Fish Full.
Full Moon – How does this phenomenon happen?
The full moon is one of the four phases of the moon. It occurs when our natural moon is opposed to the sun, that is, on the opposite side of the earth to the sun. During a full moon, the lunar disk is fully visible because it is fully illuminated by sunlight. At the same time, the other side is not lit at all. What is a full moon? On average, the full moon occurs every 29.5 days.
The influence of the Moon on the Earth is mainly shown in the form of tides. It is the regular rise and fall of the water level in the seas and oceans. This phenomenon is clearly visible in the oceans. In the Baltic Sea it is almost imperceptible.
