Human-computer interaction and nanotechnology in English, as well as sustainable bioeconomics are new areas of study at Lodz University of Technology. Recruitment starts in February. A total of 26 fields of study in Polish and 6 in English await future students.
“At the beginning of February, employment began for second-cycle studies at the Lodz University of Technology. There are 26 fields of study in Polish and 6 in English awaiting engineers and bachelor’s degrees. In employment for this year, the university has prepared new fields of study. Two of them are: Human Interaction Computer and nanotechnology will be conducted in English, and the third new is sustainable bioeconomics, ” – University spokeswoman Iowa Chojnaka told PAP on Wednesday.
She added that the master’s program in the field of human-computer interaction (HCI) will be the first field of study in a Polish university. The studies will cover an interdisciplinary area of science focused on investigating the impact of new technologies – especially computer technologies – on people’s work and lives.
According to the authors of the program, human-computer interaction is a field that combines technical and human aspects, which has gone beyond the narrow specialization in information technology, and therefore, a first degree in computer science is not required to begin studies in a new field. field. The field of study will be conducted in the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science and Automation in cooperation with the Center for International Education (IFE).
In contrast, sustainable bioeconomics is a multidisciplinary and unique trend that includes a holistic approach to issues related to the modern circular economy. The authors of the program point out that the implementation of a bioeconomic strategy requires a change of thinking that allows for a break with the traditional economy and taking innovative actions at every stage of the product’s life, that is, from the moment of obtaining the raw material through to design, production, distribution and use by consumers for recycling. The field of study will be conducted in the School of Biotechnology and Food Science in cooperation with the School of Management and Production Engineering.
Nanotechnology is one of the fastest growing scientific disciplines. For the first time, master’s studies in this field will be conducted in English at the Faculty of Chemistry. They will learn in the field of contemporary development trends and the most important achievements in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology as well as chemistry, biochemistry and materials science. Students can choose the dual degree pathway with the University of Twente at Enschede in the Netherlands. Then, they will spend one semester at the Lodz University of Technology, and the next two semesters at a university in the Netherlands, taking part in classes and preparing the diploma thesis.
“A new media campaign called” TUL – Starting Second Class “may help candidates decide on choosing a field of study. It is a series of live broadcasts carried out via the Facebook of the Lodz University of Technology. On Monday, February 1, the topic will be the registration rules for Second-stage studies, February 3 – new fields of study, opportunities to go to foreign universities and obtain double diplomas, and on February 8 – professional prospects after second-stage studies. All meetings will start at 11:00 “- Sujnaka told (PAP).
