The stage was marked by the escape of 28 cyclists who were not included in the overall rating. Ultimately, they split into smaller and larger groups. Tratnik, the Bahrain-McLaren competitor, fought for the win with Australian Ben O’Connor (NTT Pro Cycling). The Slovene did not give his opponent a chance, jumping from his last short climb before the finish line.
The 30-year-old Tratnik, in the last race of Polish team CCC Sprandi Polkowice, had a lifetime success on Tuesday.
Małecki (CCC) fought for third place with two competitors, losing slightly to Italian Enrico Battaglin (Bahrain-McLaren).
Peloton, together with the race’s favorite candidates, finished the stage approximately 13 minutes after the winner.
In the overall ranking, Almeida (Deceuninck-Quick Step) is 17 seconds ahead of Dutchman Wilco Kelderman and 2.58 seconds ahead of Australian Jai Hindley (both Sunweb). Majka (Bora-Hansgrohe) is behind Commander 3.20.
