The race – as Iveco writes – is an opportunity for the company to offer low-emission, zero-emissions vehicles. The ongoing Giro d’Italia is one of the most popular cycling races in the world. Fans from five continents follow the path of the athletes’ struggle, numbering around 900 million. Giro-E, accompanying the main competition, is the only sporting event to be played on electric-assisted bikes.

World-class sporting events, which enjoy such broad international interest, are a great opportunity to present our brand and our commitment to sustainable development. In particular, Iveco S – WAY at the helm of Carovana proves that clean long-distance cargo transportation is possible today with our natural gas technology,” said Alessandro Massimino, Head of Marketing, Iveco Truck Business Unit.

Iveco vehicles will accompany cyclists through 21 stages of the 105th edition of the race. The competition started on May 6 in Budapest and will end in Verona on May 29.

Carovana, which is opened every day by S-Way, is – as Iveco explains – a display of vehicles decorated before a peloton to warm the mood with entertainment and music.

The Iveco truck was specifically equipped for this role. The body has the characteristic pink color of Giro d’Italia, and the energy source is environmentally friendly liquefied natural gas, “writes the manufacturer.

In addition, Iveco delivered 19 light utility vehicles per day. 10 of them are used for transportation and logistics during the competition, two more daily in the Giro d’Italia pink in Carovana, and seven at the 2022 Giro-E. All are equipped with the latest generation of economical and sustainable engines, the company notes.

Iveco Bus supplied the EVADYS bus, which transports racing cyclists with electric assistance. The car is equipped with the latest generation of engines that have been adapted to run on fuel from renewable sources. The company also provides the CROSSWAY Natural Gas Bus for the use of regulators, which is used to transport people on urban and intercity roads.
