The final version of the 65th Eurovision Song Contest was held without a representative for Poland Rafai Brzozowski.
The final Eurovision score was influenced by the points awarded in a ratio of 50:50 by jurors and television viewers.
The team took the lead in jury voting Gjon’s tears (267, Check!) Before Barbara Bravy (248, Listen!), Saucepan (208, Check!) I Manskin (206, Check!). Collect 0 points James Newman (Great Britain, Check!). The votes of the spectators decided the victory of the Italians.
The massacre was passed by the representatives of the Big Five – Great Britain finished the competition with a score of 0 points. It placed Germany (3 points in total) and Spain (6 points) just above it in the final classification.
Four countries did not get any points in the viewers’ vote. Apart from the aforementioned Great Britain, Germany and Spain, the Netherlands has not gained public recognition either.
The defeat was worse for Neumann. Finding that the audience had also underestimated his performance, he nervously began toasting bread and running around the room, shaking a bottle of champagne.
Viewers did not like this behavior. “Zero points aren’t nice, but you can see James would have crashed the studio if he could”, “the cameras shouldn’t have shown him. They did a scene on a guy who suffered from feelings.”
Although Great Britain had not been among the favorites for the competition in years, such a defeat was not recorded for a long time. They “scored” zero points as recently as 2003, when the results were based only on viewers’ votes.
