Beatrice Haddad Maya (WTA 69) captured five out of 12 points in the break and defeated Miss Udvardy (WTA 83) 1:6, 6:1, 7:5.

Marcela Zacharias (WTA 262) qualified for the second round, winning 6:1, 6:7 (3), 6:3 with Emma Navarro (WTA 202). The American led with 1:6, 3:5 the third set.
