According to the German Weather Service (DWD), thunderstorms and local storms are moving over Lower Saxony from the west. Severe weather warnings are implemented in several regions in the early evening.
In the afternoon and evening, the first storms swept west of Lower Saxony in a sloping range. The affected area was the county of Bentheim, Emsland, the counties of Amerland, Kloppenburg and Oldenburg, the county of Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven. According to DWD, thunderstorms can bring between 15 and 30 liters per square meter as well as hail and gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour until late evening. There is also an official warning of high temperatures in Wendland – just like in almost the whole of East Germany. There is also a high level in parts of Lower Saxony Forest fire danger.
Thursday brings more storms
It is also expected that rain and thunderstorms will continue in some areas on Thursday night, with the temperature dropping to 16 degrees. According to the information, thunderstorms will initially subside slowly in the second half of the night. On Thursday, however, DWD expects more storms and heavy rain.
