An experienced Qatari driver named Monsieur Dakar has been chasing since day one of the competition. Al-Attiyah, after winning the front, goes down the road first – and paves the way – 12 minutes from Peterhansel. Later to win half of the ten specials, still far behind. The French should be very unlucky if they lost the lead on the 227-kilometer route to Jeddah at the end of the race.
The situation in the general classification appears to be complicated. The third will likely be Carlos Sainz, and the fourth will be Jakob Przigowski, who will increase his advantage over Nani Rom.
There is no shortage of dramatic swings in biker competition. Fourth overall ranking Joan Barreda Port, who was the fastest in the middle of the stage, missed a refueling point and ran out of gas. The stage was won by KTM Defender of Honor Sam Sunderland. The Briton will compensate for the loss to Kevin Benavides from Honda. Ricky Brabeck, who will follow his rivals in the final stage, is not losing his chances of winning.
