According to the Chinese television portal CGTN, Wang Yi presented Beijing’s position. The Chinese state councilor and foreign minister stressed that he considers Iran’s concerns about negotiations with the United States not only justified, but even “reasonable.”

Wang Yi reached an agreement on negotiations with his Iranian counterpart. Hussein Amir Abdullahijan heard a statement from the Chinese minister that Beijing is ready to support the allied country in future talks with Washington’s representatives.

This is not the first time that a Chinese government official has interfered in Iran-US relations. In late April and May 2022, the CGTN portal reported on the progress of the negotiations, clearly choosing the side of the representatives of the allied country.

The Chinese – following the Iranians – blame Washington’s representatives for breaking the talks. On the other hand, Iranian diplomats in charge of managing foreign policy, including Hossein Amir Abdollahjan and Saeed Khatibzadeh, said that since the problem is on the part of the Americans, they must also face the problem of resuming negotiations.

America is responsible for suspending these talks (…). Saeed Khatibzadeh (CGTN) said Washington had to make a decision to renew the agreement, and Tehran would not wait indefinitely.
