Another youth classic from the ’80s will see a remake of the Disney+ streaming platform. This time a remake of the 1986 Escape from the Navigator will be made. Behind the camera will be the daughter of Ron Howard (“Apollo 13”) and actress Bryce Dallas Howard (“The Settlement”, “Jurassic World”). In the new version of the film, the main character will be a girl.

“Imagine that you wake up one day and find that … somewhere 8 years have disappeared. The whole world has changed, everyone is older and you are still 12 years old. This is how David’s strangest adventures began: a wonderful meeting with a visitor from a distant part of the universe and a perilous journey Through time and space where David is the explorer,” as stated in the official plot description for the original film directed by Randall Kleiser (“Grease”).

This isn’t the first time that “The Navigator’s Escape” has been reshoots. The first experiment was conducted in 2009 by Colin Trevorrow (“Jurassic World”) and Derek Connolly (“at your own risk”). This task was then performed by future Lucifer model Joe Henderson. Both attempts were unsuccessful.

The new “Flight of the Navigator” will be director Bryce Dallas Howard’s debut. Ron Howard’s daughter has been associated with the Disney studio for some time, presenting two episodes of the series “The Mandalorian”. She is also the director of one of the episodes of “The Book of Boba Fett” that is waiting for its premiere.

Bryce Dallas Howard is so far best known for her acting achievements. She can be seen in such productions as two parts of the “Jurassic World” series or the “Black Mirror” series. The movie “Jurassic World: Dominion”, which will be released in theaters on June 10 next year, is waiting for its premiere. Howard is currently working on Matthew Vaughn’s spy drama “Argylle”.
