The British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented films, creators and actors who were awarded the most prestigious film awards in the UK this year. BAFTA, the British equivalent of the American Oscars or the French Caesars, has been held since 1948. This year, the event was planned in April, split into two evenings and executed remotely. Interestingly, after last year’s debate about nominee filmmakers, in 2021, more attention was paid to ethnic minority filmmakers.
The presentation of the so-called “British Oscar” was not a big surprise. The movie “Nomadland” won in many important categories It tells the story of a woman who, after many personal turmoil, decides to travel in a caravan across the western part of the United States. The film, directed by Chloe Chow, won 4 awards – Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography – and was nominated in 7 categories.
Netflix’s “Mank” (see our review) also received an award, winning 1 statuette, although it was nominated in up to 6 categories, such as the “Father” and “The Promise” movies. young man. Women. ”And“ Minary. ”Anthony Hopkins won the title of best actor, and“ Shake it ”turned out to be the best foreign language film.
