If you ever consider purchasing a dedicated e-reader, Amazon will think again Big discounts On some Kindle e-readers as part of Prime Day 2020. Now that it’s up and running, you can get $ 50 Kindle Paperwhite, which makes it less than $ 80 – just $ 5 off the product’s previous low price ever. We think it’s going to be a particularly popular deal on Prime Day.
Prime Day is also a good time to consider the Kids’ version of Kindle for beginners. You can save $ 35 off the list price of $ 110 and also get free status and a year of Amazon’s Kid Plus subscription service, valued at $ 36.

Like most other Prime Day sales, it is expected to start Tuesday October 13 at 12:01 AM PDT and run up to 48 hours. If you didn’t see the deal you were hoping for, don’t lose hope – experience has shown us that there are likely to be other Prime Day Kindle deals to come.
It’s unclear if Kindle Oasis or the basic Kindle (non-kids version) will also go on sale, but we’ll keep an eye on their pricing because Amazon often gives up previously undisclosed deals (plus a lightning deal or two) on its Prime Day devices. This is moderate in Amazon Line and choose the current CNET Editors in this category. Here are some of the things we love about Kindle Paperwhite:
- It is 10% thinner and lighter than the previous version.
- It features a “front flow” design with a back made of a softer and more holdable material instead of a hard plastic.
- It’s Kindle is completely waterproof, like the high-end model Kindle Oasis, And it has a plastic screen that Amazon says is crack and scratch resistant.
- It has Bluetooth technology built in, so you can download and listen to Amazon Audible audiobooks with wireless headphones.
Note that Amazon can update Kindle Paperwhite in 2020 (released November 2018). If and when it did, it is not clear how much to upgrade. For example, USB-C charging can be added and maybe the lighting scheme can be updated, but we don’t expect any exciting upgrades. Read our Amazon Kindle Paperwhite review (2018).

The most recent iteration of … Amazon The entry-level e-book reader, which Amazon simply calls Kindle, now has a self-lit screen and an improved design. We prefer the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, which has a high-resolution display (text and images appear sharper), is water resistant and has a slightly better lighting scheme. But if you don’t want to spend a lot on an e-reader, the standard Kindle is a good choice, especially when it’s on discount.

Amazon’s best-in-class E Ink reader updated in 2019 – but this Kindle e-reader is basically identical to Previous Kindle Oasis Except for one major difference: It has a new built-in color-tunable light that allows you to customize the hue from cool to warm, depending on whether you read during the day or at night. You can also schedule the screen temperature to update automatically with sunrise and sunset – on the contrary Night shift mode On Apple devices.
