On January 22, 2021, Infrastructure Minister Andrzej Adamsik met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland to Poland, Anna Clones. The main topics discussed during the video interview were the recent cooperation agreement between the European Union and the United Kingdom, especially in the field of road and air transport, as well as the current situation in terms of the flow of goods to the French – the British border and its impact on the Polish road transport sector.
The two sides stressed during the meeting that the Polish-British relations are multi-threaded and characterized by excellent communication at all levels, including those related to transport and infrastructure.
Minister Adamzik expressed his satisfaction at the positive conclusion of the negotiations between the European Union and the United Kingdom. The agreement aims to provide a solid foundation for future trade and transportation service performance.
Thanks to the agreement, it became possible to carry out air operations between the countries of the European Union and the United Kingdom. The ability to travel quickly and directly is extremely important, especially for the large group of Poles who live in the UK – The Minister of Infrastructure said Andrzej Adamczyk.
The Minister also appreciated the solutions related to the form of European-British cooperation in the field of road transport, especially given that the United Kingdom remains one of the most important markets for Polish carriers, and that the economic relations between the two countries are very dynamic.
With regard to the smooth flow of goods across the French and British borders, the Minister positively evaluated the UK government’s decision to exempt carriers transporting goods from France to the United Kingdom from showing negative results for coronavirus tests, and expressed his hope that the epidemiological situation would also allow the condition presented by the side to be canceled French. He also conveyed expressions of appreciation to the UK government for the effectiveness of the measures taken to normalize the flow of traffic across the French-British border, noting the support provided by the Polish side, including medics and the armed forces, in conducting tests among truck drivers.
