With just over three days until the next national shutdown, Wetherspoons have lowered prices to avoid having to pour beer down the drain.
From today, the chain announced that all real beer will be sold for only 99 pence, between now and last orders on Wednesday.
Bars – even those selling meals – have been requested to close throughout the upcoming national lockdown, which begins Thursday and will run through December 2.
Dan McCallum, manager of the Kettleby Cross Pub in Milton, He said, “We just have to wipe everything before the lockdown. We have been preparing for a normal week but we will be closing our doors from Wednesday night. It is a shame that we close again but for the government I think the state of needs should be.”
“It’s too early to say how the 99 piasters will be doing because it’s just getting started and we’re always very busy Sundays – especially with the pub set up for social distancing.”

The chain has already made major cuts to beer prices during the Coronavirus pandemic.
Kettleby Arms was previously selling beer as low as £ 1.29 as part of its Stay Out to Help Out scheme, inspired by the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme in August, which was designed to support the restaurant business.
