Prince Charles told of his sadness for not seeing his grandson Archie for over a year.

The Queen and other members of the royal family are also said to be “very sad” because they have only seen so little of the little baby, who is now almost 18 months old.

His parents Harry and Meghan left for North America last November – they first lived in Vancouver, Canada, and then moved to Los Angeles in March.

Before stepping back from their royal duties, the couple returned to the UK twice at the start of the year but did not bring Archie with them.

It’s now over 12 months since any of the Windsors saw it, except for occasional video calls.

And there is no indication that they will soon see it as the Sussex family is reported to be spending Christmas in their £ 11m nine-bedroom mansion in the exclusive coastal enclave of Montecito.

A Sussex source said: “ They are now in their family’s home, before they didn’t have them properly. It is their home, it is their forever home, where they will establish themselves. Archie is on the move, pulsating and having a great time.

Harry and Meghan were scheduled to return to the UK in January, but that now appears unlikely.

A friend said, ‘The Prince of Wales enjoyed going to Frogmore Cottage to see his youngest grandchild and sad that he hadn’t seen him for so long. It has lost much of its development since its now inception in the USA.

Other family members feel very sad not to see him. Everyone really misses Archie – they feel especially sad for the Queen and Prince Philip.

Harry has always said that he looks forward to raising his family with the William family – which of course does not happen now.

Charles has seen many children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, George, seven, Charlotte, five, and Louis, two, including in Tiger Hall in the summer and in Scotland since then.
