Climate activists took to Berlin again on Thursday. This time they caused a traffic jam around Mitte Central Station!
At around 8 am, climate activists demonstrated in front of Berlin Central Station on Europaplatz.
Four of the five demonstrators also glued themselves to the asphalt – with small heating pads or hand warmers.
Due to the adhesive measure, traffic was backed up behind the Tiergarten Tunnel, and Invalidenstrasse was also closed. Bus traffic was also affected and lines were diverted.
“We all have to do more to protect the climate. In such guerrilla actions in the name of climate, you don’t reduce global warming and you don’t conserve any resources or animal species,” GdP spokesman Benjamin Gendreau said in the morning. Holding on to asphalt, running bridges, abusing emergency calls or polluting works of art, one must strive for a political majority that enables key decisions to be made in a democratic constitutional state, Gendreau continued.
Around 9 a.m., the police removed air conditioner stickers from the street.
