Leeds United are pleased to announce the signing of defender Diego Llorente.
The 27-year-old joined the club from Real Sociedad in the Spanish League for an undisclosed fee.
The defender put pen to paper in a four-year deal on Elland Road, which will run through the summer of 2024.
Llorente began his football career with Real Madrid, making his debut at the Bernabéu against Osasuna in June 2013.
He spent the 2015/2016 season at Rayo Vallecano and at the end of the season won his international debut for Spain, in the 3-1 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The following season he joined Malaga on loan and went on to build his La Liga experience with 25 appearances in La Liga.
This led to Real Sociedad moving to permanently secure his signature from Real Madrid in June 2017, as he signed a five-year contract at Real Arena.
Sociedad Llorente has played 88 games over the past three seasons, scoring eight goals for the club, and their last game was 11 days ago, in a 1-1 draw with Valladolid.
So far, Llorente has played five caps for Spain, the most recent of which was in the 2–1 victory over Romania in May 2019, while he was on the bench in his last two matches in September against Germany and Ukraine.
Llorente will wear the No. 14 shirt during his time at Leeds United.
