The first to appear on the field were the competing teams in Group C (Canada, USA, Germany, Great Britain). In the duel of the first two, Denis Shapovalov abandoned the single, which did not feel quite ready after passing Covid-19. The 14th player in the world was replaced by Brayden Schnur. But the Canadian was the background in the match against John Isner. The American won smoothly 6: 1, 6: 3. Hope was given to a positive result by the country of the maple leaf, Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 21-year-old won the first set against Taylor Fritz. This, in turn, turned out to be better in the next two installments and it was known that regardless of the outcome of the doubles, the American team would be the winner. Isner and Fritz did not allow their rivals to give up in the doubles either, and they won 6:4, 6:4.
