Polish exports are growing thanks to participation in global value chains. In 2018, goods and services worth €1 exported from Poland generated approximately €0.69 in domestic value added. This is the best result among the countries of the Visegrad group. Almost every euro a third of the Polish added value contained in the exports of other countries was brought in by German exports.
OECD data shows that Polish exports are growing thanks to participation in global value chains. In the years 1995-2018, Poland’s share in global value chains increased by about 22 percent. – From 31.9 percent in 1995 to 53.7 percent. In 2018. More than half of Polish exports of goods and services were traded within international production networks. The Polish Economic Institute commented on the report on trade in value added.

“This means that Poland benefits relatively more from international trade – the value of products exported from Poland was less dependent on imports, and the driving force of Polish exports is the increased participation in global value chains” – noted the PIE experts.
