The improvement of the digitization of universities will be the result of the activities of the Digital Lublin Consortium, to which five universities from Lublin have joined. Education and Science Minister Przemyslaw Czarnik announced that a new institute specializing in digitization will be established in Lublin as part of the Łukasiewicz research network.

On Monday, Minister Czarnik participated in the signing ceremony of the announcement of joining the Lublin Digital Consortium at Lublin Medical University.

“In my opinion, the lower version is to improve the digitization and computing of all the universities of Lublin that are part of the Digital Lublin Consortium, which aims to improve teaching and learning as well as administrative services. At least one of several universities – if not the most important – centers of artificial intelligence. Here I place great hopes on the new institute within the Łukasiewicz research network ”- emphasized the head of MEiN.

He confirmed that the Lublin Digital Consortium will receive financial support from the Ministry of Education and Science, in addition to external support. “We agreed with the head of the Łukasiewicz Research Network, Piotr Dardziński, to establish a new institute specializing in digitization in Lublin (…) which will be the support of experts, but also in the field of coordinating all plans and activities of Lublin universities. Soon it will be at a much higher level”- Kazarnik said.

The declaration of joining the Digital Lublin Consortium was signed on Monday at the Medical University by the deans of five universities from Lublin. They are: Maria Curie-Skodowska University, Catholic University of Lublin, Lublin University of Technology, University of Life Sciences and Medical University.

Dean of the Medical University Prof. Wojciech Załuska emphasized that Lublin Universities have been jointly implementing interdisciplinary research and scientific projects for many years. “Today we are faced with the challenge of digital transformation that we have to implement at a specific and demanding time, such as the time of the pandemic (…) We know that the future of higher education is a hybrid model that combines the elements of online and full-time learning “- said the professor. He added that the Lublin Digital Consortium will take measures to develop digital skills and competencies. “We believe that thanks to joint actions, we will increase the capacity of our universities to develop innovative solutions, including in the field of medicine, transportation, the natural environment and sustainable development of the region (…) The creation of the Lublin Digital Consortium is a response to the need for a quick and more flexible response from universities to demand services on the Internet. Dean of Maria Curie University – Skłodowska Prof. Radosław Dobrowolski added that the modern era requires digitization and computing also in universities. “The digitization of academic life means the efficiency of management, the speed of information flow, and supervision of these activities” – added the professor.
