The Algarve is a very popular tourist area in Portugal. It offers more than 200 kilometers of different beaches, other nature and ideal conditions for water sports. It is currently experiencing torrential rains that have caused local flooding.

Local meteorological services indicate that the flood was caused by heavy rains and obstruction of many drainage wells. In less than an hour, 42 mm of rain fell.

The most difficult situation is in the city of Vila Real de Santo Antonio, where there are dozens of underwater streets. In some places in the center of the Portuguese city the height of the water exceeds 40 cm.

In the morning, in several towns in the southeast of the Algarve, 13 fire brigades pumped water from homes, garages and basements and cleared flooded roads.
