US health authorities are urging pregnant women to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said Wednesday that vaccination against the Covid-19 virus is recommended for pregnant women. The US federal government agency, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, reports that neither previous nor recent studies have found contraindications to the use of the preparations on pregnant women.

COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. The increase in vaccines has never been more urgent, said Dr. Rochelle Wallinsky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as we struggle with the highly contagious delta variant, and see serious effects of Covid-19 among the unvaccinated.

Recent analyzes show that the miscarriage rate after vaccination remains at a level similar to that of pregnant women who did not receive the vaccine. The research conducted in this regard related to preparations by Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

The CDC also shows that pregnancy increases the risk of severe Covid-19, premature birth, and even miscarriage. For this reason, the agency is calling on all people over the age of 12 to be vaccinated, including pregnant and breastfeeding women.

“Vaccinations are the only way out of this crisis,” Walinsky said.
