The foundation argues that TikTok collects a lot of data from children to target personalized ads. It also points to a more serious issue. It’s about cases of children who died doing dangerous things that were encouraged by minor users.
TikTok does not agree with the allegations. He claims to properly care for the safety of children. For example, it states that user accounts between the ages of 13 and 15 are set to private by default, and moderators block videos that are found to be inappropriate.
According to a study conducted by the Dutch branch of the children’s rights organization “Terre des Hommes”, more than half of parents are concerned about the safety of their children on the Internet, reports the daily Trouw. Most concerns relate to the use of social media, including apps like TikTok, as well as YouTube and online games. Parents are especially interested in strangers who interact with their children.

This is not the first lawsuit against TikTok. As we recently reported, British activist and former Children’s Commissioner Anne Longfield has filed a lawsuit against the TikTok community platform. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of millions of children in the UK and EU. The politician accuses the platform of collecting and using children’s data without all the necessary consents.
